Thinking Too Much

Yutang Lin

You simply like to think too much,
Causing you to become uneven in mind, and temper raging.
Even though sharp in feelings and perception is good,
Alas! None could do much about matters in the world.

See how I am, mostly silent.
Only a few words in daily conversation, avoiding entanglements.
Not having schemes, why need to say much?
No everlasting pledges offered lest in days to come
Only pretentious and deceitful words remembered.
Let others be profuse in speeches, but to me
They all become winds passing a horse's ears.

Comments:

Few things in mind, few words in mouth, and few coins in hand; thus constitute a good way to conduct Dharma practices. This work is in lyric form to expound on the first two few's.
