Disciple Xu Ming in Poland sent me an email, asking me to write, from the Dharma point of view, on the current violence and unrest in America.

My reply is as follows:
All worldly problems are rooted in grasping to self-centered ideas and emotions.
And their ultimate solution lies in each sentient being’s realization of this causal connection and working on diminishing such grasping through Dharma practices.

However, when the situation is already chaotic, no reasoning or arguments can help immediately to settle problems.
My view is that, as Buddhists, we stay away from involvement in engagements so as to reduce the chaotic conditions.
In addition, based on the awareness that all are in oneness, we pray to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for blessing to keep everyone safe, and we do repentance practices for all to reduce the public karma’s accumulated bad consequences.

I have prayed for the best.

May all suffering end soon and happiness grow steadily!
