嘗見鄭板橋之書法「難得糊塗」
世人往往推崇精明
何以有人以糊塗為難得

世事若處處計較
必致於自他皆精神緊繃　思慮複雜
而疲累不堪
小事得過且過　息事寧人
纔是智慧的生活方式

修行者當務之急
乃在培養無限開闊之眼界
及無盡關懷一切眾生之心胸
若在眼前之世事上處心積慮
便連自限之拘絆都擺不脫
因而更需有處處迷糊之雅量
寧可讓人以為是大愚
來寶藏菩提發心之大智

「難得糊塗」在此點上
可以說是
難得看見如斯的糊塗修行者
一般都是太嫻熟於世間的場面應對了

Muddled-headed Rare

Muddled-headed Rare (Nan De Hu Tu in Chinese)
Is a famous calligraphy work by Zheng Ban Qiao of Qing Dynasty
Usually people praise astuteness
Why would someone consider being muddled-headed as being rare

In dealing with worldly matters
If one calculates and argues at every step and turn
It will definitely lead everyone to tension and complexity of mind
And hence all get tired and feel burdened beyond capacity
Let small matters pass as long as they do not cause too much problem
And thereby matters get settled and people get rest and peace
That is a wise way to live by

For a Dharma practitioner the urgent task at hand is
To cultivate views those are boundlessly open
And a mind that cares for all beings with endless compassion
If he is preoccupied with worldly matters in front
Then he will even be unable to get rid of self-confined entanglements
Therefore he needs very much the tolerance to be lenient on all counts
Rather let others consider him to be a big fool
So as to sustain as treasure the great wisdom to develop Bodhicitta

"Muddled-headed rare" when applied to this case
May be interpreted as saying
Rare to see such "muddled-headed" Dharma practitioners
Usually they are too skillful in dealings in worldly situations
